Hello fellow foodies!

If you haven't heard the name 'Saporium' bandied about of late, then I do believe that's all about to change!

Over the past few months we've been excitedly planning and plotting this incredible new addition to what is already a pretty serious food and design destination at The Cannery in Rosebery.

If quality is your thing, then no doubt you're already familiar with the likes of Koskela, Archie Rose, Black Star Pastry, The 5th Earl, Zeus Street Greek, the list goes on. And now within the same complex, we welcome Saporium.

Due to open mid-April 2016, Saporium is set to become Sydney's hottest new food destination, incorporating 12 incredible food artisans under one almighty roof! And at the beating heart of this exciting new precinct is VIVE Cooking School.

Saporium will have the energy of a bustling marketplace, a veritable hot spot of exceptional food artisans, producers and masters of their trade, all at work to serve you seven days a week. And the common goal? Sustainability. Food. Collaboration. Quality. Kindness.

So watch this space as the Saporium story unfolds. It's beyond exciting, we're (almost) at a loss for words! In the meantime, we will continue to bring you the tales and tribulations of the Saporium residents-to-be and our ever-exciting VIVE Cooking School news.

Okay chocolate-lovers, this one's for you! In fact, anyone with even a smidge of a sweet tooth will be in blissed-out heaven when they venture into any one of The Choc Pot spots in Sydney.

And while the menu has morphed into more than just choc, whatever it's got, it definitely rocks!

I had a lovely chat recently to dedicated dessert fan and The Choc Pot owner, founder and self-imposed sweet tooth Ashley Clarke. Ashley and his bride-to-be Deej just love the sweet stuff! And hearing how this melting pot of deliciousness came to be is a pretty cool story in itself.

From humble beginnings, Ash grew up surrounded by good food - from helping out in his parents Indian grocery store to happily volunteering his spoon-licking services during his mother's many baking bonanzas, food was a focus.

And so the seed was sown.

Of course, there were a few tiny detours on the way to dessert nirvana. A psychology degree, a little IT recruitment and then a few years into a medical degree and finally the penny dropped. This was not the right path - and so The Choc Pot was born!

The Choc Pot mantra is a pretty simple one - to create beautiful desserts in a dedicated restaurant, from scratch and from the finest ingredients.

Without any 'formal' training, Ash and Deej have achieved their success through a combination of sweet passion and simple hard work. And this dedication has paid off - in less than three years they have built their own little, mouthwatering dessert empire!

The incredible desserts on the menu at The Choc Pot originate from Ash and Deej's very own home repertoire of recipes. The sweet stuff that they used to cook at home whilst studying and working has been lifted up, tested, fine-tuned and successfully translated into their ever-evolving and oh-so-sweet menu.

And while their delicious desserts were originally chocolate-inspired, The Choc Pot has since become so much more and offers an array of incredible, hand-made desserts to suit all tastes.

A veritable hot pot of choc - and other after-dinner delicacies!


The Choc Pot has swung open the doors of their fourth site within the the brand-spanking new Saporium precinct in Rosebery. With momentum building around this incredible new food hub, The Choc Pot is ready and waiting to satisfy your sweet-tooth desires whilst eagerly awaiting the arrival of their neighbouring food friends and artisans over the following few months.

Ash and The Choc Pot hope to share their sweet knowledge through a collaboration with VIVE Cooking School, in the form of a dedicated dessert cooking class.

Now I love the sound of that!

It's never too early to get your kids interested in cooking up a storm - and the VIVE Junior Chefs class is the perfect spot to hone the skills of our aspiring young chefs!

As the name suggests, this class is all about letting our cool little kids rule the kitchen for a while.

This interactive and curated class for kids encourages creativity, enables confidence and most of all, is lots of fun! Head Chef Julien will take his little protégés under his wing, teaching new skills and allowing a greater understanding of the what, where, how and why of food.

From kitchen basics to yummy sweets or the perfect dinner dish, your kids will swagger out of the kitchen at the end of this class, with a culinary knowledge and confidence to boot!

This class is for all children aged 8 to 15 years and can be tailored to accommodate a memorable birthday party, school groups, even a family class for parents and kids to collaborate and have fun in the kitchen.

And while the kids cook, parents can meander through the corridors of Saporium, the exciting new food precinct surrounding VIVE Cooking School, chatting to the food artisans, enjoying a coffee (or a cheeky G&T at Archie Rose) and collecting your groceries for the week ahead.

Sounds like heaven to me!

This is a safe and easy, hands-on class and runs for 1 hour.
